This NYC Bar Serves A $21 Incredible Hulk Cocktail—And Yes, I Tried It

Elderly millennials, gather round and bring your Motorola RAZRs with you! I come bearing exciting news! Whether you’ve had the pleasure of trying an Incredible Hulk for yourself or heard about the cocktail via a rap song, chances are you’re familiar with the infamous drink. A true early 2000s gem, the Incredible Hulk got its distinct name because when you combine the two primary spirits, Hpnotiq and Hennessy, it turns green in color.

So get this, earlier this month I had an Incredible Hulk while visiting New York City and it was…wait for it…actually really good! It was one of the drinks served at Lower East Side cocktail bar, Lullaby. We made it to Lullaby via a recommendation from our waiter at Mo’s General (an amazing pizza spot in Brooklyn by the way!).

Unlike the OG Incredible Hulk, Lullaby’s take on the drink was made with Hine Cognac and Hpnotiq. Also, it wasn’t in the ingredients list, but it tasted like there was a bit of Absinthe as well.

First off, it has the most gorgeous green color. The bar was super dim, so I was trying not to use the flash on my phone, but I did get one flash pic that really shows off the color. She’s definitely a boozy sip, but also incredibly smooth. There was a bit of fruitiness courtesy of the Hpnotiq. And using a quality cognac ensured that you got more of a complex, sophisticated take on what was essentially a club cocktail. Again, I feel like there was a bit of absinthe because there was a pretty noticeable licorice flavor. Even my bestie was impressed by the cocktail

I did cringe a bit at the $21 price tag, but that’s Manhattan for you. But I do think it was well worth it. The cocktail was tasty and boozy enough to where I felt like I was getting my money’s worth. And the staff was very kind and knowledgeable.

It would have been pretty cool though if there was some kind of garnish they could have added as a nod to the original Incredible Hulk and that particular period of time. Because yes, it was quite the time for us elderly millennials.
