Exclusive: “Southern Charm” Star Austen Kroll Shares His Go-To Holiday Drinks

Raising Cane’s

When you’re counting down the days until the start of the holiday season, there’s a pretty good chance that you’re also eagerly awaiting the first sip of your fave festive libation. Mine is absolutely boozy eggnog (with dark rum please!). So when I had the chance to chat it up with Southern Charm alum Austen Kroll at Raising Cane’s Holiday Bike Giveaway in Times Square, I knew I had to ask about his favorites.

As the kiddos from the Harlem Boys & Girls Club jetted around in their shiny new bikes, I questioned Austen about his top NYC bars, his new THC seltzer line and his holiday drink go-tos. And I have to say that his favorite seasonal sips are pretty solid. Check ‘em out below and be sure to chime in with your own faves!

Holiday Spiced Beer

At this point, we need to petition to have holiday beers available year-round because they’re so dang good. From cinnamon to pumpkin spice, there’s hardly a holiday flavor that hasn’t somehow made its way into a seasonal beer.

“A holiday spiced beer is so good,” Austen revealed “And there are a few in particular. One is from Great Lakes Brewing. It’s called Christmas Ale. It’s Christmas in a cup. It’s a nutmeg flavor and a cinnamon flavor. And that really comes through. It’s such a good beer.”

Boozy Eggnog

For the Southern Charm star, boozy eggnog has become somewhat of a family thing. It’s a tradition he picked up straight from his dad, who always made sure the nog had a proper kick. “Eggnog is a huge thing for me. Brandy and rum. Sometimes it’s rum with like a brandy floater. I kinda grew up with my dad spiking with brandy,” he shared.

Hot Chocolate With Peppermint Schnapps

I have to admit that Austen’s final holiday pick, hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps, is one I’ve never tried. I mean, I’m still standing behind my “coziest boozy hot chocolate” recipe, but I might have to let the combination of chocolate and peppermint be my next, must-try seasonal pairing.
