I Tried Chili’s New ‘Love Island’ Inspired Bombshell Marg—And You Should Absolutely Try It ASAP
BEFORE YOU SIP
Chili’s July Margarita of the Month is the new Bombshell Marg, a $6 Love Island-inspired cocktail made with El Jimador Blanco Tequila, strawberry purée, dragonfruit, Triple Sec, and house-made sour.
The Bombshell Marg is sweet, fruity, and surprisingly boozy, with strawberry taking center stage, a subtle hint of dragonfruit, and a collectible "Bombshell/O.G." swizzle stick included while supplies last.
While the flavor is enjoyable, it could have leaned further into the Love Island theme, with more tropical, beach-inspired ingredients to help it stand out from recent Margarita of the Month releases.
It’s once again that time of the year when the entire country seems to be going Love Island crazy. Forget Cabo Verde and Argentina’s World Cup match, did you hear about the latest Casa Amor visit?? (On a serious note, that World Cup game was EPIC) I have to admit that I haven’t watched Love Island since Serena and Kordell won, but I was excited to learn that Chili’s latest Margarita of the Month (MOTM) takes its inspiration from the dating reality show.
Available for just $6, Chili’s new Bombshell Marg is made with El Jimador Blanco Tequila, Triple Sec, Monin Dragonfruit, strawberry puree, and house-made sour. And since Chili’s knows you all love a good swizzle stick, the Bombshell Marg is served with a custom Bombshell swizzle stick.
I of course had to try the latest MOTM addition, and there are a few things you should know.
What Does Chili's Bombshell Marg Taste Like?
First off, it’s too bad that Love Island doesn’t air closer to Valentine’s Day, because with its pinkish hue and prominent strawberry flavor, the Bombshell Marg would have been the perfect MOTM for February and V-Day.
Flavor-wise, I did enjoy the Bombshell Marg. It was pretty heavy on the strawberry with just a hint of dragonfruit. Given that the strawberry and dragonfruit flavors are pretty sweet, I wish the house-made sour would have pushed through a little more. Or maybe a lime wedge to give it a pop of citrus. Also, if you think that Chili’s skimps on the liquor in their Margaritas of the Month because they’re only $6, I assure. you they do not. I was definitely feeling a bit buzzed after that first marg.
A Fun Collectible, But A Missed Opportunity
Oh! And I absolutely loved the addition of the double-sided “Bombshell/O.G.” swizzle stick. It’s one you’re definitely gonna want to take home with you. Unfortunately, all my craftiness seemed to leave my body once I hit high school, but I think it’d be really fun if someone could repurpose the swizzle sticks and make some kind of charm out of them.
My main margarita critique is that I wish the Bombshell Marg was a little more creative. I know the cocktail is merely inspired by Love Island, but I still would have liked it if they incorporated some kind of beachy/summer element. Blue curacao, coconut, something. I also feel like the MOTMs are starting to taste a little similar, so a different flavor would have been welcome.
Don't Wait Too Long to Try the Bombshell Marg
Also, I’m sure you all already know, but the Bombshell Marg will only be available for the month of July. On top of that, the Bombshell swizzle sticks are only available while supplies last, so be sure to hop on this month’s MOTM ASAP!
