I Tried the Wanderfull Hydrobag—And It’s the Unexpected Upgrade Every Wine Lover Needs

We’re only a few weeks into spring and I’ve already lugged around more wine bottles than I can count. Whether I’ve had to bring a bottle of Chardonnay to a friend’s game night or pack a bottle of Pinot Grigio for a picnic, I find that I always have a bottle of wine in hand.

But the thing is I’m kinda clumsy. The idea of holding a glass bottle of wine while also trying to find my lipgloss while also texting is a little overwhelming. Honestly, the fact that a bottle of wine has never slipped out of my hand is a miracle. So I was pretty darn curious when I came across an email about a product that comfortably carries an entire bottle of wine.

That product is the Wanderfull Hydrobag, and I had the chance to test it out. Read ahead for everything I loved, didn’t love, and the surprise feature that made me an instant fan.

What Is The Wanderfull Hydrobag?

So here’s a little secret, the Wanderfull Hydrobag was actually created to hold your reusable water bottle. But the bag has also been promoted as being ideal for storing reusable soda and coffee cups, and wine bottles. It allows you to be to hands-free by holding both your wine and daily essentials. The bags range in price from $49 to $79.

What I Loved

With a detachable strap that’s also adjustable, the Hydrobag can be worn on the shoulder or crossbody. I also appreciate that the strap is pretty wide. A bottle of wine has a little weight to it, so a thin strap would not do your shoulder any favors. This strap was comfortable and didn’t place much strain on my shoulder. You’ll also find plenty of places on the bag to attach a bag charm.

One of my biggest concerns about the bag before trying it out was that it’d be too shallow for a bottle of wine, and that the wine would tumble out. I’m pleased to say that there is no issue on that end. The bag practically swallowed the wine bottle whole. There’s maybe about 3-inches of bottle that sticks out, so your wine is perfectly safe and secure. Additionally, the bag features some light padding to keep your bottle safe in case you bump into something.

I absolutely loved the zebra print! I’m a handbag girly, so I appreciate all the colors and prints the Hydrobag is available in. I consider animal print a neutral, so this particular bag really goes well with just about any outfit.

What I Didn’t Love

I’m not gonna lie to you, I probably won’t be using my Hydrobag with a bottle of red wine. Given that my bag is light in color and the directions state that you should spot clean, I don’t think the Hydrobag is surviving a few drops of red wine. So I’d rather be safe than sorry. Maybe a more durable material would do the trick?

Also, this is more of a heads up than a critique, but the bag does not keep your wine cool. The bag is made for reusable water bottles that already have their own insulation, so this isn’t a feature currently.

The Surprise Feature That Kinda Blew Me Away

I already knew that the Hydrobag had a large zip pocket on the front of the bag. But imagine my surprise when I opened my package from Wanderfull and realized that there wasn’t just one pocket, there was two! I somehow didn’t spot this in photos of the bag. The second pocket is directly behind the first pocket. It also features a cardholder, so there’s no need to pack your wallet.

What I thought was pretty cool was that if you fill one pocket, it doesn’t take away from the space in the other pocket (unless you’re stuffing it to the max). With two pockets, you can easily fit a lip gloss, sunglasses, credit cards, your phone, keys, and more.

The Wanderfull Hydrobag is a stylish option that allows you to be hands-free while also keeping your bottle of wine safe. It boasts a fair price point that makes it more accessible than most bags. Just be extra careful with that bottle of red wine!
