Hidden Gem: The Surprising Downtown Atlanta Spot With The Best Happy Hour

It’s a big weekend here in Atlanta. The College Football National Championship takes place on Monday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, so downtown Atlanta has been buzzing. I of course wanted to get in on the action so I ventured downtown yesterday and I’m glad I did because I came across quite the rarity: a weekend Happy Hour.

While trying to find a bite to eat, I stumbled upon SKOL Brewing Company, a newly-opened restaurant located inside the 200 Peachtree Street Building (be sure to enter on Carnegie Way). Described as a “high-end, food-forward brewpub,” SKOL serves up an assortment of craft beers, cocktails, and bar bites.

I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a beer, so I opted for the Purple Rain (a Prosecco and Empress Gin cocktail). I asked if they could add a splash of simple syrup to sweeten it up a bit and it was pretty tasty although I’d probably skip the simple syrup next time. While trying to find SKOL, someone recommended that I try their Jucy Lucy Burger. The burger is stuffed with three of my favorite things, sauteed onions, pickles, and cheese so I was in heaven. It also comes with a literal mountain of fries.

Now let’s get to the Happy Hour! First off, shout out to Lenox for informing me that there was a Happy Hour, because given that it was Saturday I would’ve had no clue. Happy Hour at SKOL takes place from Monday - Friday (4 PM to 6 PM) and Saturday and Sunday (2 PM to 5 PM). On the menu, you’ll find:

  • $14 Pitchers

  • $8 House Margarita

  • $6 Seltzers & Ciders

  • $5 Select Appetizers

Oh! And I probably wouldn’t recommend this as a post-Happy Hour activity, but they also have axe throwing at SKOL!
