As if finding a budget-friendly Happy Hour in Atlanta wasn’t already tough, once you factor in traffic, lack of parking, and those dreaded grass walls, it really becomes a chore. Well, my friend, I suggest that you venture just a teeny bit outside of the city to Avondale. This up-and-coming neighborhood is home to luxe apartment buildings, quirky thrift shops, and plenty of places to get your drink on. And are you ready for the best part? In addition to stellar drink specials, Avondale is also an open container area (here’s a map).

Since arriving in Avondale a couple of years ago, Anansi has become quite the force. Just ask, TikTok. Although quaint, this cocktail lounge is packed with charm. Aesthetics are on point, the playlist is just right, and the cocktails are perfectly concocted. And thanks to their newly-launched Social Hour, you can save big on a variety of classic cocktails, including the French 75 (my go-to!), Old Fashioned, Sidecar, and Daiquiri. Social Hour takes place Monday through Friday, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., and during that time you can get the cocktails mentioned and more for $9.

Kafenio
Given that Kafenio is a Greek restaurant, you wouldn’t necessarily expect to save big on drinks. Well, as someone who’s had my fair share of falafel wraps and red wine sangrias from Kafenio, I can assure you that this is the place to get your eat and drink on for a bargain. At one point, the restaurant offered $4 beer and wine as part of their Sunday Funday and Hump Day Wednesday deals. In fact, if you’re thirsty, they’re currently running a wallet-friendly promotion for the holiday season—a mixed cocktail for only $5. Be sure to follow their Instagram account to stay posted on future deals.

NiteOwl Kitchen and Cocktails
As the newbie in the neighborhood, NiteOwl Kitchen and Cocktails has been pumping out daily deals like it’s nobody’s business. On Tuesdays, you can enjoy $6 beers, $7 tequilas, and $10 cocktails. And in honor of Hump Day, customers have the option of sipping on $7 Lemon Drops and Cosmos or $5 beers. I haven’t had the chance to visit NiteOwl yet, but they kinda had me at $7 Cosmos.

Wild Heaven
Wine specials at a brewery? Listen, we’ll take it! On Wednesdays, Wild Heaven offers 10% off glasses and $5 off bottles. And for those who prefer stouts over Chardonnay, Wild Heaven also provides $2 off your first food item and $2 off your first beer on Thursdays.

Purple Corkscrew
I have to give an honorary mention to Purple Corkscrew because although you won’t find any drink specials at this wine shop, it’s one of my faves. They do have really affordable wine tastings and a record player for the occasional jam session though!
