The New Orleans Bars Serving Up The Best Cocktails During Super Bowl (And Beyond)
If you’re heading to the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, first off, I’m jealous (but also happy for you!). And second, be prepared to eat and drink like a king. It’s no secret that the city of New Orleans is world renown for its cocktails and cuisine. But I’ll be the first to tell you that if you’re not good with too many options, you’ll quickly be overwhelmed. Don’t worry though because I’ve got you on cocktails! (And if you need any food recs, just hit me on The ‘Gram).
Before I get into the list of my favorite bars in Nola, I wanted to share the official GoFundMe hub for the victims of the attack in New Orleans on January 1 if anyone would like to donate.
Neyow’s Creole Cafe
Neyow’s first found its way onto my radar thanks to their famous chargrilled oysters, but I quickly learned that no trip to the restaurant is complete without a Bow Wow. The Bow Wow Is Neyow’s take on a boozy fruit punch and listen to me when I say this, this is not a drink to play around with. Yes, it’s fruity. Yes, it’s delightful. But it is STRONG. Neyow’s does have a full food and drink menu if you’d like to venture outside of boozy fruit punch and chargrilled oysters.
The Rum House
I have an entire blog post dedicated to The Rum House, that’s how much I love it. Described as a “Caribbean Taqueria,” The Rum House specializes in tantalizing tacos and cocktails that’ll transport you straight to the tropics. My personal favorite, the frozen Painkiller, can be purchased for just $8 during Happy Hour. Other sips you’ll find on the Happy Hour menu include the house margarita, sangria, Rum Punch, and the Blueberry Hill Mojito. The restaurant is located a short drive from the French Quarter, so it also serves as a nice little break from the frenzy of the French Quarter.
Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar
Given that Lafitte’s was built between 1722 and 1732, it’s known as the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States. In addition to being a fun stop for history buffs, Lafitte’s serves a mean Voodoo Daiquiri (also known as The Purple Drink). The drink, which is served frozen, is made using bourbon, Everclear, and grape juice. I know that combo sounds a little wacky but I promise it’s delicious.
Octavia
Amid the hustle and bustle of Caesar’s Casino (formerly Harrah’s), you’ll find Octavia, a luxe cocktail bar serving a selection of seductive sips. Octavia is located smack dab in the middle of the casino, so you can’t miss it. What I found most intriguing is that the cocktail menu is broken down by various themes, including Curious, Flirty, Pick Me Up., Take Me Home, and Clarity. I’m all for an experience, so during my trip to Octavia I opted for the Paper Fortune Teller Sazerac. When you order this cocktail, you roll a dice and whatever it rolls on you unfold the corresponding flap in the paper fortune teller to reveal your Sazerac. I’m not gonna lie to you, I don’t remember my Sazerac flavor, but I did try a friend’s Banana Sazerac, and I loved it.
Royal Frenchmen Hotel & Bar
I was lucky enough to be introduced to this bar during the final stop on a New Orleans live music tour. It’s a moody, but cozy little bar located inside the Frenchmen Hotel. I was informed that the mixologists at the Royal Frenchmen are award-winning and can whip up any cocktail you like, so I was of course up for the challenge. You just tell ‘em what kind of flavor profiles you’re into and you’re preferred spirit and voila!
Peacock Room
If you’re looking for a bar that’s a little more on the sophisticated side, Peacock Room is your girl. As its name suggests, this cocktail lounge is adorned with majestic peacocks. Chandeliers are also scattered throughout Peacock Room and it’s filled with inviting jeweled tones, adding even more whimsy to the space. I highly suggest the Point Break (pictured above). Quite the looker, this cocktail is made with coconut-infused Don Q Rum, Bacardi Ocho, and pineapple juice. It’s then topped with a tasty lime foam and zest.
