Enjoying The Perfect Day In Malibu With Summer Somewhere Wines

Don’t you just love a good wine tasting? I had the privilege of taking part in what is now one of my favorite wine tastings during a recent trip to Malibu, California. My boozy experience took place at the tasting room for Summer Somewhere Wines, a family run wine company that prides itself on celebrating life’s moments.

While visiting their Malibu tasting room, I was presented with a menu that included four different tasting options: Surfrider Tasting ($34), Zuma Tasting ($38), Malibu Colony Tasting ($42), and Dimension Tasting ($80). I wasn’t really in the mood for any reds that day. It just didn’t seem very “Malibu,” so I opted for the Surfrider Tasting. This particular option included an assortment of rosés, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Grüner Veltliner, and an orange wine. I attended the tasting with my cousin and with the exception of the orange wine (sorry, boo!) we were both really impressed with the wines we sampled.

For those who consider themselves seasonal sippers, the Surfrider Tasting featured great spring/summer wines. Personally, I could drink them year-round, but they all had fruity notes like orange blossom, nectarine, and green apple. Super drinkable. I usually have to be pretty impressed by a wine to like it enough to hunt for it online and have it shipped to me. Buttt I might just have to give in for a bottle of one of Summer Somewhere’s rosés. The two rosés we sampled were the Santa Ynez Valley Rosé and the Santa Barbara Reserve Rosé. I can’t remember which one I liked the most, so I guess I’ll be adding both bottles to my cart.

A quick heads up, the tasting room is pretty small. In fact, it’s actually located inside of a Fred Segal furniture store. It was pretty cool though because after our tasting we walked around the store a bit and got to see some unique pieces of furniture, including a coffee table that uses kinetic art to create images under the table’s surface.

Also, we visited during a weekday, and they don’t offer any snacks on those days. The host did inform us that we can purchase food outside of the tasting room and bring it inside. So we ended up going to a Whole Foods a few blocks away and purchased ingredients to create our own charcuterie board.

To schedule your own tasting at Summer Somewhere Wines, you can visit their website. And tell ‘em, Lushworthy sent ya!
