“An Afternoon At Kilwins” Is The Dessert Cocktail We All Need
It was at Kilwins, a candy and ice cream shop here in Atlanta, where I first discovered my love for the combination of chocolate and orange. Although the shop is known for its massive candy apples coated in caramel, chocolate, marshmallows, sprinkles, and other candies, I gravitated towards a much tamer option: the chocolate covered orange peels. It was a surprising pull because my sweet tooth usually leans towards the absolutely decadent.
So when I received a bottle of Baileys Chocolate a few weeks back, I knew I wanted to incorporate orange somehow. Fortunately, getting my orange fix was pretty easy given that I had a bottle of Cointreau orange liqueur handy. I also had a bottle of Bumbu Rum handy, so I guess you can say that the universe played quite the role in creating this cocktail.
I’ve named my dessert-y sip “An Afternoon At Kilwins,” and I promise you, it’s delightful! It’s boozy, sweet, classy. And honestly, I think it would make for a fun signature cocktail option at your next holiday gathering!
You can of course play around with the ingredients a bit. If you want the orange to really pop, I’d suggest adding more Cointreau and less rum. And I mean, if you really want to go rogue, you can even swap the Cointreau out for Chambord for a berry-forward sip.
