Although I’m very much a cocktail enthusiast, we switched things up a bit and took it to the brewery for the latest #MeetMeAtTheBar meetup, which took place over the weekend at the Wild Heaven Craft Beers brewery in Avondale Estates, Georgia.
A great time was definitely had as those in attendance sampled a variety of craft beers and were also treated to a pulled pork sandwich buffet complete with homemade coleslaw. I also raffled off a few Lushworthy prizes including two cocktail sets (full size bottle of Smirnoff Light with cocktail shaker), Stella & Dot jewelry, and beer bottle koozies. Thanks so much to everyone who came out!

It’s not often that you get to sample a cognac created to pay homage to the founder of Hennessy, but on a surprisingly mild, winter evening in The A, I had the opportunity to do just that. Earlier this month, I received an invite to a Hennessy dinner hosted by Maurice Hennessy, 8th generation descendant to the Hennessy empire. The dinner, which took place last week, was held in honor of Daniel Graham, former NFL football player and Henny afficianado.
Prior to dinner, which was to take place inside a quaint room in historic Rhodes Hall, small bites were served and myself and those in attendance sipped on Mint Juleps made using Hennessy Privilege. This was to be the only cocktail served during the event since dinner was more of a tasting than a cocktail extravaganza. The tasting before dinner was definitely a highlight for me. I’m far from a spirits expert, but I’ve definitely learned a thing or two in the time since I started this blog, so the tasting was a welcoming (albeit boozy) educational component to the night.
At this year’s Art Basel, which took place in several cities across the globe including Miami, there was a good chance your favorite spirit brands were heavily present at the multi-day celebration of the arts. Among those brands were Hennessy and Crown Royal. Hennessy continued to push their Wild Rabbit campaign with noted rapper Nas thanks to their “Never stop. Never settle” photo series while Crown Royal introduced their new Crown Royal XO during a birthday celebration for producer Rico Love.

Lance Bass, Jordin Sparks, and the ladies of Danity Kane were among a number of celebrities present at Sauza Tequila’s American Music Awards gifting suite last weekend in Los Angeles. Attendees at the exclusive gifting event were able to sample the new line of Sauza Sparkling Margaritas (Original Lime, Mango Peach, and Wild Berry) in between preparing for the 40th annual AMAs. And in addition to sparkling margaritas and gifting swag, those in attendance at Sauza’s gifting suite were also treated to some serious eye candy in the form of a bartending lifeguard. Bow-chicka-wow-wow, indeed.

A number of celebrities were present at the uber-plush The Griffin in New York City last week as professional athlete Carmelo Anthony received the Hennessy Privilège Award. The New York Knicks player received the award thanks to his community service work with the Carmelo Anthony Foundation, an organization that seeks to “to positively impact the lives of those living in under-served communities through 3 key focus areas – education, recreation & community outreach.” Other notable attendee’s at the exclusive event included television personality Rocsi Diaz, director Spike Lee, and rapper Fabolous. Kudos to Carmelo on his award, and be sure to check out pics from the event below.
I’m almost ashamed to say it, but I’ve honestly never celebrated the Lushworthy holiday that is National Tequila Day. Crazy, right? Well, yesterday I finally had the opportunity to celebrate National Tequila Day during a media dinner Herradura Tequila hosted at Astor Court in the St. Regis Atlanta. Prior to dinner, those in attendance had the opportunity to sample the “Magmarita,” a sweet and spicy take on the margarita, which comes garnished with a candied pepper and was of course made using Herradura Tequila.
Prior to noshing on pecan-crusted Georgia trout, lobster mashed potatoes, and other edible delights, Herradura Tequila’s global ambassador and tequila aficionado Ruben Aceves filled us in on a number of interesting facts about the brand. Take for instance the “Herradura” name. For those of you who didn’t flunk out of your high school Spanish class, you probably already know that the word “herradura” translates to “horseshoe” in English. Well, legend has it that a horseshoe found on the hacienda grounds by Aurelio López Rosales (Herradura Tequila founder) was mistaken for gold after being seen from a distance and consequently became a symbol for good luck and the inspiration behind the Herradura Tequila name and logo.
On top of dinner and drinks, we also had the opportunity to sample various tequilas from Herradrua, including a Double Barrel Reposado and the ultra smooth Selección Suprema. Overall, it was an amazing dinner and I did manage to snag a few pictures. You can find those below.
