If you’ve lived in the city of Atlanta for at least a decade, you’re probably well aware of the swift changes being made to the city. New buildings are finding their place within the Atlanta skyline, every weekend seems to be met with a restaurant opening, and Murder Kroger is now long gone.
I’m not against finding new and exciting places to get my drink on, but it’s becoming increasingly harder to find an authentically Atlantan, good time. So, if you’re struggling to find a bar with a true Atlanta turn up, I’ve compiled a list of my personal, favorites.
The list is lit to say the least.
Jack’s Pizza & Wings – I absolutely LOVE Jack’s. They have some of the cheapest drinks in all of The A. The wings are bomb and I’ve met so many cool/fun/crazy people while late night drinking. Speaking of which, shout out to the random at Jack’s who gave my best friend and I life while snap-dancing to D4L’s “Laffy Taffy.” Jack’s is one of those places where you’ll be met with random shenanigans nearly any night, and for that I love it.
El Bar– What El Bar lacks in size, it makes up for in pure turn up. Seriously this place is small AF, but also lit AF. It’s almost magical. I take that back, it is magical. With the gentrification of Ponce running rampant, places like El Bar and MJQ have become treasured jewels of turn up.
When the clock strikes 5 P.M. today and your work week officially ends, chances are pretty high that you’ll then scramble to the mall for that perfect Mother’s Day gift. Or if that’s not the case, you’ll probably immediately whip out your smartphone and scour OpenTable in the hopes of finding the ideal Mother’s Day brunch spot. Am I right? Well, since you’re likely going to spend most of the weekend planning for Sunday, if anything, at least you don’t have to put in too much effort finding that winning Mother’s Day cocktail. I’ve gone ahead and included the drink recipes to a handful of Mother’s Day-inspired drink recipes to make your weekend a little easier. From tequila-based to those heavy on the vodka, from the sweet to the savory, you’ll likely find at least one cocktail mom will go head over heels for. Enjoy!

Moms are usually about as sweet as they come, unless your mom happens to be a combination of Ursula from The Little Mermaid and Kathy Bates’ character in Misery. And if that’s the case then good luck with that. So why not treat your mom to a sweet, whisky-based cocktail from Crown Royal Maple Finishedthis Mother’s Day? While all three of the Crown Royal Maple cocktails I’ve listed below are ideal for Mother’s Day, they also serve as pretty stellar Spring cocktails if you’re still in the market for a Lushworthy addition for your next get together.

Of course Hallmark cards are nice and so is jewelry, but do you know what one gift your mom would probably really love this Mother’s Day? A nice cocktail! Now I don’t know from experience, but I’m sure being a mom is probably one of the toughest jobs around so I’m sure a tasty cocktail will be a nice addition to whatever Mother’s Day festivities you have planned today. And if you’re stumped when it comes to creative cocktail ideas then be sure to check out these drink recipes from Camarena Tequila and Cruzan Rum.
Pour Cruzan rum, lemon juice and simple syrup into a mixing glass and fill with ice. Shake for 5 seconds and strain into a tall glass over ice. Top with club soda. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a fresh strawberry.
