It’s no secret that cocktails are loaded with calories, but over the past few years a number of brands have introduced a series of low-calorie spirits. Joining the ranks of the calorie-conscious is now Smirnoff Vodka. With spring only a matter of days away, the announcement of Smirnoff Vodka’s new Smirnoff Sorbet Light comes at an absolutely perfect time. The lower calorie line comes in a variety of flavors and is only 78 calories per 1.5 oz. serving so you can skip a crunch or two the next time you hit up your local gym.
“SMIRNOFF Sorbet Light is the next flavor experience for those women who strive to lead a balanced lifestyle, but never at the expense of delicious cocktails,” said Sandhya Padmanabhan, Brand Manager for SMIRNOFF. “Today’s multifaceted woman inspired SMIRNOFF to think differently and create a product that would make guilt free, delectable drinks that truly embody the refreshingly light taste of sorbet.”
The refreshing trio of flavors available in Smirnoff’s new line include Smirnoff Sorbet Light Raspberry Pomegranate, Smirnoff Sorbet Light Mango Passion Fruit, and Smirnoff Sorbet Light Lemon. If you’re interested in getting your hands on Smirnoff Sorbet Light, you can purchase a bottle for only $15.99.
Also, for all my Atlantan’s (and anyone else with great weather this weekend), how perfect would a Smirnoff Sorbet Light cocktail be during this amazing weekend we have coming up?
Congratulations are in order for Ketel One for securing several number one spots in Drinks International’s World’s 50 Best Bars Brands Report: Vodka. For those who may be unfamiliar with Drinks International’s annual report, it surveys top mixologists, owners, and managers across the globe in the hopes of finding the best selling and best trending brands of the last year. On top of being named the “# 1 Best Selling Vodka Brand In The World,” Ketel One also earned the title of “#1 Trending Vodka Brand In The World” and “#1 Favorite Vodka Brand That Makes A Cosmopolitan.” Since Ketel One is a top choice when it comes to creating a killer Cosmo I figured I couldn’t rightfully end this post without adding the recipe for the “Ultimate Ketel One Cosmopolitan.” Enjoy!
Ultimate Ketel One Cosmopolitan
1-1/2 ounce Ketel One Citroen
3/4 ounce Cointreau
Splash of Cranberry Juice
Squeeze of Fresh Lime
Lemon Twist Garnish
Combine liquids in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend and chill. Strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
I’m going to go ahead and call it now, but the biggest cocktail trend this spring/summer will hands down be anything that features a floral element. It’s only January and already the floral trend is off to an impressive start. ABSOLUT Vodka recently announced that ABSOLUT HIBISKUS will be their newest flavor profile and on top of that, earlier in the month Bacardi acquired St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur in a major power move. Flowers are clearly having the best month ever as far as liquor is concerned.
Expected to hit shelves nationwide later this month, ABSOLUT HIBISKUS will flaunt an enticing blend of hibiscus and pomegranate.
“In recent years, a sophisticated trend has emerged, as more and more bartenders are adding floral ingredients to the mix,” said Eric Horowitz, Senior Brand Manager – ABSOLUT, Pernod Ricard USA. “The distinctive combination of Hibiskus will appeal to consumers who have tired of the confectionary flavored vodka category and are looking for something for a more refined palate with no added sugar or preservatives.”
I’ll be posting a few ABSOLUT HIBISKUS drink recipes on Lushworthy later in the month, maybe this week if my inner flower child kicks in, so you don’t have to fret over what to mix with this floral spirit.
