I always thought the idea of “Christmas In July” was merely a marketing tool to get people to bust out their wallets months ahead of the Christmas holiday. But after talking to a friend about a “Christmas In July” house party crawl they’re taking part in this month (so awesome!), I realized that the idea of “Christmas In July” extends far beyond premature holiday shopping. In fact, it’s down right boozy.
I absolutely love, love, love holiday cocktails. They’re just so rich, decadent, and cheery! So, the idea of taking a break from your standard summer cocktails for a dessert-y, holiday-inspired drank is super enticing to me. And to help you celebrate “Christmas In July,” I’ve added the recipe to my Minty Hot Chocolate Shooters, and a handful of other holiday-heavy cocktails. Cheers!
Minty Hot Chocolate Shooters (Pictured Above)
2 oz. Smirnoff Peppermint Twist
1 Cup Cooled Hot Chocolate
Prepare hot chocolate. Allow time to cool. Pour cooled, hot chocolate in a shaker with ice. Pour Smirnoff Peppermint Twist into shaker. Shake and strain into shot glasses. Top with whipped cream and crushed peppermint. (Should fill approximately six shot glasses)
1 part Hornitos Plata Tequila
½ part coconut water
½ part almond milk
Add all ingredients to a shaker over ice to chill. Shake, strain and pour into a shot glass rimmed with cinnamon and sugar.
As if dope pool parties and boozy drinks by the beach weren’t enough to get us excited about summer, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey has re-introduced their #SummerSwarm giveaway series. All you have to do to take part is create a photo album on JackSummerSwarm.com and upload pics via your device or Instagram. Take note that each week is a different summer-friendly theme (selfies, the beach, festival life, etc). Jack Honey will be giving out cool prizes like selfie sticks and personal-action cams, but the grand prize is an all-expenses paid trip to next year’s Lollapalooza music fest. Be sure to check out JackSummerSwarm.com for added details.
Oh, and if you’re in need of a super simple, summer cocktail then check out the recipe for my Jack n’ Tea! It calls for both Jack Honey and sweet tea, and is so tasty.
Jack n’ Tea
1 Part Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey
3 Parts Sweet Tea
Add Jack Honey and sweet tea to either a glass or a pitcher (depending on how big of a batch you’re serving). Stir, add ice, and a splash of lemon (more for a big batch). Garnish individual servings with a lemon wedge.
Although K. Michelle may be known as one of the cast members on the VH1 reality series, “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” the Memphis-born songstress is actually quite the Jack Daniel’s connoisseur. She even became somewhat of an ambassador for the brand, reportedly signing an endorsement deal with Jack Daniel’s late last year. With her passion for all-things-Jack, K. Michelle recently shared her favorite Jack Honey cocktails. Check out her favs, along with full recipes, below.
Every now and then I receive a newsletter from Gentleman Jack promoting a sports-themed contest. I’ve yet to win one of their contests, but it seemed only right to share the info on here in case someone out there is feeling a little lucky. Gentleman Jack’s latest contest is their Ultimate Game Day Experience and here’s what you’ll receive if you win:
“One lucky winner, along with three of their friends, will be chauffeured from the winner’s home to dinner and then onto an Atlanta Hawks game where they’ll receive exclusive Gentleman Jack – Atlanta Hawks gift bags.”
All you have to do to enter is visit JackDaniels.com and provide your contact information. Also, I get the feeling that Gentleman Jack might offer similar contests in different cities. So even if you don’t live in Atlanta you might want to sign up for their newsletter just in case. Good luck!
With so many Lushworthy sponsors you already know that ONE MusicFest is going to be a blast this year. The festival is an annual event that brings some of music’s biggest names to the city of Atlanta. This year the festival will take place on September 1st at Masquerade Music Park and will feature performances from Santigold, Big K.R.I.T., Slick Rick, and more. I actually attended ONE MusicFest last year when it took place at the much smaller Park Tavern venue in Piedmont Park and it was definitely a great event.
The cool thing about the festival is that they’ve got a number of ticket packages and quite a few of them include cocktail or bottle deals! Glad to see that they’re keeping it Lushworthy. For instance, the $84 VIP ticket includes two complimentary beverages and if you and your friends have really got some dough to spend then there’s the $875 VIP tents (up to eight people) which come with a six-pack of Blue Moon beer and one complimentary bottle of liquor. Now that’s my kind of party. For more information on ONE MusicFest check out OneMusicFest.com.
