A few days ago, I was invited to attend a really cool event hosted by Crown Royal Apple. For St. Patrick’s Day, select bloggers and influencers watched the Atlanta Hawks play the Denver Nuggets from a private suite hosted by Crown Royal Apple. We took part in a guided whiskey tasting held by Master of Whisky, Ryan Ross, enjoyed Crown Royal Apple cocktails, and thankfully, watched the Hawks beat the Nuggets.
We also walked away with our very own bottle of Crown Royal Apple and a handful of other goodies. If you’ve ever purchased a bottle of Crown Royal Apple, you’ve likely noticed that its contents don’t last too long. It’s that tasty. So, I wanted to quickly knock out a cocktail recipe before my bottle was tapped out.
I wanted something super simple and also spring/summer-friendly. The end result is one of the tastiest, boozy lemonades I’ve ever laid lips on. Since boozy lemonade is rather common, I upped the ante a bit by adding a cinnamon-dusted lemon wheel as my garnish.
Final Four frenzy is in the air, and it’s electric! I also haven’t watched a single game, so clearly no electricity on this end. But, just with any major event, there’s a number of Final Four-inspired cocktails that are just waiting to be sipped.

I’m not gonna lie, the idea of cooking with booze scares me a little bit. You can’t tell me that the explosion of fire that results from flambeing a dish isn’t a little on the intimidating side. Thankfully though, not every booze-infused dish comes with the risk of singeing off one’s eyebrows. The folks at Crown Royal and Captain Morgan have come up with a handful of dishes that are made using either whiskey or rum and are perfect for this weekend’s Labor Day festivities.
Check out their recipes for BBQ Chicken Bacon Bites made with a rum-infused spicy sweet BBQ sauce and Brats With [Crown Royal] Maple-ized Onions.
Nonstick cooking spray
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
8 oz. (half pound) bacon, cut into thirds
1/2 cup Spicy Sweet BBQ Sauce (recipe below)
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spray lightly with cooking spray. Wrap each chicken piece with a small strip of bacon. Secure with a toothpick and place on the baking sheet. Brush with BBQ sauce. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove pan from oven, brush bites with more BBQ sauce, and return to oven. Bake for 15 more minutes. Serve warm.
Following the announcement that Ciroc, Crown Royal, and a handful of other brands were partnering with the NBA, Crown Royal was of course highly present at NBA All-Star Weekend last week. The brand even hosted their own Crown Royal XO whisky tasting at New Orleans’ Metropolitan Night Club.
The intimate event was attended by the likes of Julius “Dr. J” Erving, who starred in that really fly Crown Royal commercial last year, actor/television personality Terrence J, “Inside The NBA” analyst Kenny Smith, and more. Those present at the tasting were able to sample Crown’s latest premium blend, which is finished in cognac casks from the French Limousin Forest. Fancy, right? Check out a few flicks from the whisky-centric shindig below.

At this year’s Art Basel, which took place in several cities across the globe including Miami, there was a good chance your favorite spirit brands were heavily present at the multi-day celebration of the arts. Among those brands were Hennessy and Crown Royal. Hennessy continued to push their Wild Rabbit campaign with noted rapper Nas thanks to their “Never stop. Never settle” photo series while Crown Royal introduced their new Crown Royal XO during a birthday celebration for producer Rico Love.

The folks over at Diageo, one of the behemoths of booze, are continuing to make major moves and earlier today, the beverage company announced a new, multi-year marketing partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA).
“Our brands have the unique privilege of participating in some of life’s greatest celebratory moments the world over and what better partner to bring those moments to life than the NBA,” said Peter McDonough, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer, Diageo. “From the players and competition to fashion, music and nightlife, the NBA opens the door for us to leave a lasting impression with adult fans in truly innovative and meaningful ways around the game.”
Now if you’re like me then you’re probably all, “Oh wow, that’s awesome! [Awkward pause] So, what does this all mean exactly?” Well, details are still a little scarce, but you can expect Crown Royal, Baileys, and Ciroc to take centerstage as part of the deal. Crown Royal will continue to push their “Reign On” campaign and will incorporate exclusive video content geared towards NBA fans. That content will include the multi-part TNT video series “On Point” and the new digital series “Reigning Moments of the Week presented by Crown Royal.”
And you can of course expect Ciroc to be heavily present at NBA All-Star 2014 in New Orleans this February as they’ll be hosting a Ciroc-branded lounge and a handful of other events.
Obviously a major move in the liquor world, I’ll be sure to keep you posted on any other Lushworthy details in regards to Diageo’s latest partnership.
