I’m not gonna lie, the idea of cooking with booze scares me a little bit. You can’t tell me that the explosion of fire that results from flambeing a dish isn’t a little on the intimidating side. Thankfully though, not every booze-infused dish comes with the risk of singeing off one’s eyebrows. The folks at Crown Royal and Captain Morgan have come up with a handful of dishes that are made using either whiskey or rum and are perfect for this weekend’s Labor Day festivities.
Check out their recipes for BBQ Chicken Bacon Bites made with a rum-infused spicy sweet BBQ sauce and Brats With [Crown Royal] Maple-ized Onions.
Nonstick cooking spray
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
8 oz. (half pound) bacon, cut into thirds
1/2 cup Spicy Sweet BBQ Sauce (recipe below)
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spray lightly with cooking spray. Wrap each chicken piece with a small strip of bacon. Secure with a toothpick and place on the baking sheet. Brush with BBQ sauce. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove pan from oven, brush bites with more BBQ sauce, and return to oven. Bake for 15 more minutes. Serve warm.
Following the announcement that Ciroc, Crown Royal, and a handful of other brands were partnering with the NBA, Crown Royal was of course highly present at NBA All-Star Weekend last week. The brand even hosted their own Crown Royal XO whisky tasting at New Orleans’ Metropolitan Night Club.
The intimate event was attended by the likes of Julius “Dr. J” Erving, who starred in that really fly Crown Royal commercial last year, actor/television personality Terrence J, “Inside The NBA” analyst Kenny Smith, and more. Those present at the tasting were able to sample Crown’s latest premium blend, which is finished in cognac casks from the French Limousin Forest. Fancy, right? Check out a few flicks from the whisky-centric shindig below.

At this year’s Art Basel, which took place in several cities across the globe including Miami, there was a good chance your favorite spirit brands were heavily present at the multi-day celebration of the arts. Among those brands were Hennessy and Crown Royal. Hennessy continued to push their Wild Rabbit campaign with noted rapper Nas thanks to their “Never stop. Never settle” photo series while Crown Royal introduced their new Crown Royal XO during a birthday celebration for producer Rico Love.

The folks over at Diageo, one of the behemoths of booze, are continuing to make major moves and earlier today, the beverage company announced a new, multi-year marketing partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA).
“Our brands have the unique privilege of participating in some of life’s greatest celebratory moments the world over and what better partner to bring those moments to life than the NBA,” said Peter McDonough, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer, Diageo. “From the players and competition to fashion, music and nightlife, the NBA opens the door for us to leave a lasting impression with adult fans in truly innovative and meaningful ways around the game.”
Now if you’re like me then you’re probably all, “Oh wow, that’s awesome! [Awkward pause] So, what does this all mean exactly?” Well, details are still a little scarce, but you can expect Crown Royal, Baileys, and Ciroc to take centerstage as part of the deal. Crown Royal will continue to push their “Reign On” campaign and will incorporate exclusive video content geared towards NBA fans. That content will include the multi-part TNT video series “On Point” and the new digital series “Reigning Moments of the Week presented by Crown Royal.”
And you can of course expect Ciroc to be heavily present at NBA All-Star 2014 in New Orleans this February as they’ll be hosting a Ciroc-branded lounge and a handful of other events.
Obviously a major move in the liquor world, I’ll be sure to keep you posted on any other Lushworthy details in regards to Diageo’s latest partnership.
If you’re a fan of Crown Royal then there’s likely a pretty good chance you’ve gone through quite a few of their iconic, purple pouches. There’s also a good chance that you’re either hoarding all of your pouches or threw them all away once your bottle of Crown Royal was tapped out. To ensure that every Crown Royal pouch is used to its full extent, I’ve come up with four practical uses for your pouch. Check ‘em out.
Boozy Wristlet – I absolutely love handbags and while my Crown Royal pouch isn’t necessarily my go-to bag when it comes to going out, you’d be surprised at how much it can hold. Phone, lip gloss, credit cards, all that good stuff.
Pencil/Pen Pouch – I don’t know about you guys, but back in my elementary/middle school days, the pencil case was probably one of my favorite school accessories. I hope that didn’t sound terribly nerdy. There’s probably an 88.5 percent chance that you have a ton of pens, pencils, highlighters, etc. thrown around your office or home. Well, thankfully the Crown Royal pouch doubles as a pretty nifty pouch for all those pens/pencils. Seriously, you can probably fit about 30 of them in there.
I have to admit that I’ve never been a huge fan of the Kentucky Derby, but this year Crown Royal has upped the ante for myself and nine other bloggers with a special Derby Influencer Program. Here’s how the program works:
Earlier today I received a package from Crown Royal that contained a bottle of Crown Royal, the ingredients to their “Crown Royal Press” cocktail, and a Crown Royal pouch that included the names of two horses that will be competing at the Kentucky Derby this weekend. Here’s the cool part, if either of those two horses win I’ll receive VIP travel and accommodations to either the Preakness or The Belmont Stakes. Pretty cool, right?
Well, my horses are Revolutionary and Normandy Invasion and from the research I’ve done so far these are two amazing competitors. Needless to say I’m feeling pretty excited! Feel free to show your support for Revolutionary and Normandy Invasion by using the #ReignOn hashtag and either #Revolutionary or #NormandyInvasion on your preferred social networking site.
