If, like me, you’ve found yourself proudly declaring “Dilly Dilly!” out of the blue, then you’ll be pleased to hear that Bud Light has released their “The Bud Knight” Super Bowl commercial, ahead of Sunday night’s game. The minute-long spot finds the Dilly Dilly King and his crew duking it out with the White Walkers for a few 12-packs of Bud. Okay, they aren’t actually White Walkers, but bad guys nonetheless. I don’t want to spoil too much, so check out “The Bud Knight” commercial, below.
The (previously released) “Ye Olde Pep Talk” and “The Bud Knight” commercials were directed by Jim Jenkins, and impressively enough, they were both filmed in New Zealand. “The Bud Knight” spot is set to air during the second quarter of the Super Bowl.
I first caught glimpse of this visual morsel of all-American goodness while checking out the first week of the summer Olympics earlier this month. Right off the bat I was immediately drawn in. Jay-Z really makes for a great narrator so maybe that was part of it and you have to admit that their timing for the commercial was pretty great as well. You’re promoting a “Made In America” festival which is sponsored by Budweiser, one of the most American of beers, during the Olympics when patriotism is at its highest? Yeah, great timing to say the least. Lastly, I was really digging the whole “music as expression” angle. You’ve definitely got my vote Jay-Z, for what I don’t know, but you’ve got it nonetheless!
Also, does anyone plan on checking out the “Made In America” festival when it takes place next month in Philly? That lineup is killer! For more information on the festival check out MadeInAmericaFest.com.
You can’t help but love events that consist of both free drinks and good music. If you’re in New York City or the surrounding areas tonight (July 14) be sure to check out Vault Harlem for a free open bar event that will feature tunes from DJ ehT Mills as well as performances from Dremur, Julian Stephen, and Beano. An open bar will be provided courtesy of Budweiser and Nude Vodka, but be sure to get there early because drinks will be provided “while supplies last.” Check out the flyer below for more info.
