Every time I attend a beer or liquor festival here in the Atlanta area and proceed to document the festivities on social media (Twitter, Instagram, etc.), I get a lot of responses along the lines of “I can’t believe that was this weekend!” or “Why didn’t you tell me about [insert random booze festival here]?” So, since we’re gradually working our way into booze festival season, I figured I’d help you guys out a bit and list all the Lushworthy festivals I’m aware of. And if you have any festivals you’d like to add, feel free to chime in via the comments section or shoot me an email and I’ll gladly add on to the list. Oh, and FYI, this list only consists of spring/summer festivals.
The Atlanta Hawks and Fizz invited local, brew-centric minded media to a sneak preview of the 2014 HAWKtoberfest during a recent game at Phillips Arena.
We were treated to a suite, snacks, and beers during the game, along with a tour of the event space. During the game we spoke with representatives from the Atlanta Hawks and Fizz to acquire everything you need to know about attending HAWKtoberfest.
What is HAWKtoberfest?
The Atlanta Hawks’ 2nd Annual HAWKtoberfest will take place at Philips Arena and celebrates Atlanta’s local craft breweries! You can enjoy offerings from local breweries, talk with the brewmasters, enjoy live music by Yacht Rock Revue, and sample craft beer treats from Happy Hour Confections.
What is the date and who are the Hawks playing?
HAWKtoberfest will take place at Philips Arena on March 21, 2014 during the Hawks vs. New Orleans Pelicans game from 6 PM to the end of the third quarter.
So umm, is it safe to say that beer festival season has officially begun? Why yes, yes it is, and it’s kicking off with a bang folks. For all my Atlanta-based brew fans, I’ve got yet another festival to tell you about. On Saturday, March 2nd, the Taste & Brews Festival will head to the Atlanta Food Truck Park & Market for five hours worth of beer tastings and edible samples from Yumbii, Sweet Auburn Barbecue, WOW, Happy Belly, and a bevy of other food trucks. The cool part about this festival is that they’ll be pairing specific types of beer with each food truck sample. Here’s a small look at the pairings you can expect:
Yumbii – Beef or Tofu Tacos (Pairing Beer – Lager)
WOW – 20 hr Smoked pork served over stone ground cheese grits and topped with house made Chipotle Cream and BBQ sauce (Paring Beer – Pilsner)
Masala Fresh Indian Street Food – Chicken Tiki Masala with Rice and Samosa Bite (Pairing Beer, IPA)
Tickets to the Taste & Brews Festival are $45 in advance and $55 at the door. Oh, and I was able to secure a pretty nice discount of $15 for you guys if you use Lushworthy as the promo code. Be sure to purchase your ticket ASAP because that discount will go down to $10 on Wednesday and then $5 the week after! Head to Xorbia.com to purchase your ticket(s).
