7 Lushes, One City: The “Bad Girls Club New Orleans” Episode One Review

I received a press copy of the first episode of “Bad Girls Club New Orleans” over the weekend and I thought to myself, “I sure wish this was relevant enough to review on Lushworthy.” Then I came to the obvious realization that the Bad Girls are the biggest group of lushes on television and that a review on here is actually pretty suitable. So here goes…

For the past season or two “Bad Girls Club” has kicked off their season premiere with an extremely chaotic scene that usually ends with some kind of physical confrontation. You get all excited about the mayhem you’re going to see in the first episode and then they hit you with the “17 Days Earlier” and rewind to the girls arriving (peacefully) at their mansion. And they’ve yet again stuck with that formula for this season. I’m personally not a fan of it. I feel like they show you all this action in the beginning knowing that the rest of the episode won’t be nearly as action-packed. There were of course a few crazy moments in the episode, but nothing like what you see in the first few minutes.

If I could sum up the season premiere using just a few words they’d be crazy Creole, voodoo dolls, Shawty Lo, and major pizza disrespect. Once you’ve seen the episode you’ll know exactly what I’m referring to. Now moving on to our seven lushes…

Why does it seem like there’s always at least two Bad Girls who hail from New York City? And they all manage to be quite crazy. Well, you’ve got two of those this season. You’ve got a “Goofy Gangster,” an intimidating lesbian chic, a go-go dancer, and a few other nutcases. There’s also one life-sized voodoo doll that I’m pretty sure one of the Bad Girls thinks is a real person (bless her poor, confused little soul). In past seasons there’s been quite a few girls who ended up leaving the show before it concludes, but after watching this first episode there’s only one Bad Girl that I think would voluntarily leave the house.

Overall the episode proved to be very entertaining in that typical “these girls are all completely out of their minds” way that has become so familiar when it comes to the “Bad Girls Club” series.

Be sure to check out the “Bad Girls Club New Orleans” season premiere on August 1 at 9/8c on Oxygen.

Lushworthy Pics: The “World’s Largest Negroni” Takes Center Stage At “Tales Of The Cocktail”

Now if this blog started some time last year and not two weeks ago, I would without a doubt be at “Tales Of The Cocktail” in New Orleans right now. For those of you unfamiliar with the event “Tales Of The Cocktail” is a five day long event that strives “to be instrumental in advancing the craft of the cocktail through education, networking and promotion.” And this is done through various seminars, competitions, tastings, etc.

One of the events that took place at “Tales Of The Cocktail” was Campari’s “World’s Largest Negroni” event. The event featured a ginormous 30-gallon Negroni cocktail which was served to attendee’s by a bevy of gentlemen sporting handlebar moustaches. I sure hope the folks at Guinness were contacted because this is without a doubt the biggest cocktail I’ve ever seen. Check out pics from the event as well as a recipe for the Negroni cocktail below.

The Negroni Cocktail

1 oz. (30ml) Campari

Urban Outfitters’ Ultra Feminine Floral Flask

Pardon my French, but I always thought it would be kinda kick ass to own a flask. It just screams, “I’m a rebel with nothing to lose.” Okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration but they still seem somewhat rebellious and kinda edgy. My only problem is they all look super manly, but low and behold I came across this gem on the Urban Outfitters site earlier today. Who would’ve thought that something so manly could look so dainty? I need to get my hand on one of these ASAP. It’s got “Lushworthy” written all over it.

Drink Recipes: “El Cuervo Fresco” (Yea, I Made That Name Up)

As far as I know this particular recipe doesn’t have a name and I don’t see why anything so delicious should go nameless. It’s just unfair. So make sure you refer to this drink as the “El Cuervo Fresco” if you ever want to order it at the bar. I’m so glad I was able to come across this cocktail while at an event because I would have never thought to combine tequila and lemonade. It’s almost similar to a margarita but much tastier in my opinion. And if you’re a fan of margaritas, but hate the bitter taste then you are going to absolutely love this drink. It’s not bitter at all and the Jose Cuervo Platino really makes for a smooth drink.

INGREDIENTS

8fl oz. Jose Cuervo Platino

2½ pints lemonade

2 lemons (sliced thin)

Ice

DIRECTIONS

Mix Jose Cuervo Platino, lemonade, and sliced lemons in a large jug. Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve then pour into six short tumblers of ice.

Lushworthy Pics: Jay-Z, Russell Simmons & More Celebrate The Launch Of Qream Liqueur In NYC

To say that the New York City launch party for Pharrell Williams’ Qream Liqueur was “star-studded” would be an understatement. When Jay-Z and Russell Simmons are in the building you’ve clearly surpassed “star-studded.” The event took place last night (July 20) at the New York Public Library and others in attendance included rapper/producer Swizz Beatz, supermodel Selita Ebanks, DJ Khaled, former A Tribe Called Quest frontman Q-Tip, and much more.  So Qream, how about that Atlanta launch party? We’re cool too ya know.

Check Out Big Boi’s Hilarious “The Crown Life” Outtakes (Video)

I’ve never had the opportunity to meet Big Boi in person but he’s got to be one of the realest, funniest rappers in the game. The Atlanta rapper recently partnered with Crown Royal Black and as part of the partnership the two released the mini-documentary “The Crown Life.” And earlier today Big Boi posted a video featuring various outtakes from “The Crown Life” documentary and it’s hilarious. In the video Big Boi rides around a grocery store using a motorized cart, points out his drivers “clean ass ponytail,” and talks about his boo getting upset with him over a Tweet.
