I have a new found respect for gin after attending the Atlanta launch ofOXLEY Gin earlier this week. The event took place at the newly-opened Midtown lounge Vanquish and featured an interesting mix of media, liquor distributors, and others. At the launch three specialty OXLEY Gin cocktails were served including the R.A.F. (Royal Air Force), Oxley Citruszing, and Oxley 75. I absolutely fell in love with the Oxley 75 hence my new found respect for gin in general. I’ve included the recipe for this particular drink below and I’m telling you after you try it you’ll have a new appreciation for gin as well.
What makes OXLEY Gin quite unique compared to other gins is the fact that they use an innovative cold distillation process which ensures that their gin retains its flavorful, classic gin taste. I personally haven’t come across anyone who’s a fan of gin, but I feel that with the launch of unique liquors like OXLEY Gin that’s likely to change soon. A bottle of OXLEY Gin will retail for about $50.
1 oz. Oxley Gin
.5 oz. Lemon Juice
.5 oz. Simple Syrup
.25 oz. LaMarca Prosecco
Combine ingredients in mixer with ice. Strain and pour into champagne flute.

Cole, singer Melanie Fiona, and D.C. rapper Wale. Tickets will be given out through Heineken and various Websites, radio stations, etc. so be sure to keep your eyes and ears open.
Atlanta wine enthusiasts are sure to be in for quite a treat at the August 4th wine tasting at Ray’s On The River. The wine tasting is open to the public and for only $45 you’ll have the opportunity to sample wines from Napa Valley winemakers Pall Hobbs and Shafer, Food & Wine’s 2009 winemaker of the year Charles Smith, and Australia’s Ben Glaetzer. The wine tasting will of course include a bevy of horsd’oeuvres and if you care to stay for dinner you’ll receive 20 percent off your bill. The event will kick off around 7 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m.
To reserve your spot call Ray’s On The River at 770-955-1187.
The Belve Music Lounge has set up shop at some of the country’s biggest music events so it’s no surprise that they’ll be invading Lollapalooza next month in Chicago. Belvedere Vodka will hold their Belve Music Lounge on August 5th and August 6th and all you have to do to attend is RSVP via their Facebook page. Make sure you RSVP now because space is very limited. I had the opportunity to check out the Belve Music Lounge at last years Winter Music Conference in Miami and I had a blast so make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity!
Now if this blog started some time last year and not two weeks ago, I would without a doubt be at “Tales Of The Cocktail”in New Orleans right now. For those of you unfamiliar with the event “Tales Of The Cocktail” is a five day long event that strives “to be instrumental in advancing the craft of the cocktail through education, networking and promotion.” And this is done through various seminars, competitions, tastings, etc.
One of the events that took place at “Tales Of The Cocktail” was Campari’s “World’s Largest Negroni” event. The event featured a ginormous 30-gallon Negroni cocktail which was served to attendee’s by a bevy of gentlemen sporting handlebar moustaches. I sure hope the folks at Guinness were contacted because this is without a doubt the biggest cocktail I’ve ever seen. Check out pics from the event as well as a recipe for the Negroni cocktail below.
The Negroni Cocktail
1 oz. (30ml) Beefeater 24 London Dry Gin
1 oz. (30ml) Campari
1 oz. (30ml) Martini Rosso
Pour ingredients into a rocks glass filled with ice then stir and serve. Garnish with a slice of orange.
To say that the New York City launch party for Pharrell Williams’ Qream Liqueur was “star-studded” would be an understatement. When Jay-Z and Russell Simmons are in the building you’ve clearly surpassed “star-studded.” The event took place last night (July 20) at the New York Public Library and others in attendance included rapper/producer Swizz Beatz, supermodel Selita Ebanks, DJ Khaled, former A Tribe Called Quest frontman Q-Tip, and much more. So Qream, how about that Atlanta launch party? We’re cool too ya know.
