Super Bowl LII is fast approaching, and to be quite blunt, I’m just here for the cocktails (and the accompanying snacks). My team, the Atlanta Falcons had a pretty mediocre season, so I’m somewhat eager to end this chapter in football. I will say that I am really excited for all the Lushworthy cocktail options for the big game. Whether you’re rooting for the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles, or none of the above, I’ve compiled a list of cocktails you can whip up based on who you’re cheering for, this weekend.
New England Patriots – If you’re on the side of evil, then I’m assuming you’re rooting for Brady and the Patriots. The fiery “Brady’s Bunch” cocktail (pictured above), which is featured at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, is perfect for you Pats fans thanks to its spicy kick.
1 oz. Patron Anejo Tequila
1 oz. Jameson Irish Whiskey
.25 oz. Ancho Chile Liqueur
.25 oz. Bitter Liqueur
.25 oz. Spiced Syrup
Place a block of ice into an Old Fashioned glass, and set aside. Combine all of your ingredients in a separate mixing glass filled with ice. Stir and strain into Old Fashioned glass. Garnish with candied ginger.
Philadelphia Eagles – Please believe that Eagles fans are going to be on 100 once Sunday rolls around. No complex cocktails for you guys. Instead, we’re keeping it simple with a classic martini from Hendricks’ Gin.
Hendrick’s Brotherly Love Martini – Created by Mattias Horseman
5 parts Hendrick’s Gin
1 part Dry Vermouth
Fill a mixing glass with ice. Pour Hendrick’s Gin and Dry Vermouth into your mixing glass. Stir about 20 seconds, and strain into martini glass. Garnish with cucumber spiral.
None Of The Above – If you’re feeling a little, “I’m just here, so I don’t get fined” when it comes to watching this year’s Super Bowl, you’re not alone. Thankfully, Tullamore D.E.W. Ambassador, Tim Herlihy has crafted this fun pairing for the big game.
D.E.W and a Brew – Created by Tim Herlihy
Tullamore D.E.W. Original
Your Favorite Beer (Herlihy suggests something lightly hopped such as Bronx Brewery’s American Pale Ale or BuckleDown Brewing’s Belt & Suspenders American IPA)
Alternate sips between your beer of choice and Tullamore D.E.W. as your team alternates between tackles and touchdowns.
Everyone – If you want everyone to win, I for one appreciate your upbeet demeanor. This boozy Berry-Beet-a-Rita is made using Beetology, a hand-crafted mixer created out of beets, and should be right up your lane.
3 oz. Beetology Beet + Berry
2 oz. Silver Tequila
½ oz. lime juice
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add Beetology, lime juice and tequila. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, and serve in a glass with or without salt.
