Now that we’re nearing spring and the warmer months, we can certainly expect to hear a lot of exciting news when it pertains to the beer, liquor, and wine industries and any place that happens to sell those delicious beverages. So much so that I’m going to introduce a new “Lushworthy Week In Review” column just so I can fill you guys in on any news, events, etc. that I may have missed during the week. And here goes…

Bacardi Pineapple Fusion Launches During All-Star Weekend

Bacardi will soon add yet another flavor to its growing line of flavored rums. Joining the likes of Bacardi Limon, Bacardi Coconut, and a handful of other flavors is Bacardi Pineapple Fusion. Bacardi’s newest addition will consist of a combination of pineapple and coconut rums and officially launched during the NBA All-Star Game festivities last weekend. You can expect Bacardi Pineapple Fusion to hit stores in April.

To introduce their newest client, Chef Shane and Ocean Catering Company, Caren West PR held a private shindig in downtown Atlanta to give a handful of bloggers, journalists, and others in the food/beverage industry a taste (literally) at all that Chef Shane is cooking up. Also on hand at the event was Wild Heaven Craft Beers and Pinnacle Vodka who were of coursing serving up plenty of “Whippets” (Whynatte and Pinnacle Whipped Vodka). The “Whippets” also proved to be a nice companion to OCC’s Angus sirloin sliders, Sloppy Joe’s, and mini creme brulees. And in case you need help getting Lushworthy at your next event, OCC also provides beverage services to its clients.

As much as I love Guinness and fish and chips, I have to admit that Irish cuisine has never been too big on my radar, but after attending a media dinner at Ri Ra Irish Pub in Midtown Atlanta that may soon change. If you’ve got an undying love for Guinness and good grub then chef Kelly Solinger has got you covered with an array of authentic Irish cuisine at Ri Ra’s. Also, if you ever find yourself having dinner or drinks at Ri Ra I highly suggest the “Leprechaun Bomb,” a surprisingly tasty combination of Guinness, Kahlua, and orange liqueur.

Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum Heads To The U.S.

In partial celebration of its 310th anniversary, Mount Gay will be introducing their new Black Barrel Rum to the United States in April. As the world’s oldest, refined rum, Mount Gay isn’t one to skimp on the details and Master Blender Allen Smith spoke on just that with the announcement of Black Barrel Rum launching in the states.

“Ready when it’s ready, not before,“ said Smith in a statement. “Rum blending is an art passed down for generations, and I am honored to continue the brand’s focus on innovation and refinement with the introduction of Black Barrel. We are thrilled to give our consumers an exceptional, high-quality spirit to appreciate for years to come.”
